Grow Gloucestershire Showcase Awards – 2016

Celebrate and recognise young people in Gloucestershire who have kick-started their careers, and the businesses or schools who have helped them.

Nominations are now open for the Grow Showcase Awards 2016, which will take place in the evening of Tuesday 22nd November 2016 at Cheltenham Racecourse. 

The awards are an opportunity to celebrate the achievements, performance and excellent work of young people in Gloucestershire, and the businesses and individuals who support them.

Nominations close on 9th September 2016 at 4pm

Further information to note:

  • There is an application form for each category, so please complete the relevant one.
  • Submissions can be made by anyone, including the candidate, a placement co-ordinator, a school or an organisation.
  • A maximum of 2 additional A4 pages of additional supporting material (e.g. images, press cuttings, further evidence) can be submitted alongside the application form.
  • Please also enclose an image or logo or the company, school or individual. This will not be part of the judging process. It is purely for use at the award event if you are shortlisted, and may be used as marketing collateral later.
  • We are hoping to create short films of the finalists to use as an introduction to each award category. Please confirm in your application whether you/the candidate would be happy to be filmed if shortlisted.

 

Outstanding work experience or placement student

  • This award is about celebrating the positive impact work experience has on students and businesses.
  • A work placement is defined as a short term (less than 4 weeks), unpaid work placement whilst still in full-time education. 
  • Nominees must be between the ages of 14-18.

Entries should relate to work carried out between July 2015 and July 2016.

Outstanding support to a young person

  • This category awards professionals who have made an outstanding contribution to supporting young people in the county to develop employability skills.
  • It recognises the exceptional work of careers advisers, apprenticeship co-ordinators, placement co-ordinators, teachers and mentors across Gloucestershire who have made a significant impact to the employability of young people.

Outstanding business contribution

  • This category recognises businesses which have made an outstanding contribution to growing Gloucestershire and giving young people in the county the chances they need to learn employability skills. 
  • Entrants can be for both SMEs and large businesses.

Outstanding apprentice

  • This category recognises the achievements, performance and excellent work of young apprentices in Gloucestershire who have joined a business and made a large impact whilst under employment. 
  • Entrants must be aged between 16 and 24.

Exceptional achievement

  • This category awards an individual or group of people who have overcome personal challenges or disadvantages and succeeded in developing their skills, either during a placement, work experience, or employment. 
  • Entrants must be under the age of 24.

Outstanding young person in the workplace

  • This award celebrates the positive impact that young people have on the workplace, either through internships and graduate placements or through conventional employment. Nominees must be between the ages of 18-24.
  • Entries should relate to work carried out between September 2015 and June 2016.
  • Entrants must be aged between 18 and 24

Career advisor of the year

  • This category acknowledges the vital role that careers advisers have in guiding young people to make decisions about their future.
  • Nominees should work in a careers advice role, at a school, college or voluntary organisation, and offer impartial careers advise to young people under the age of 24.
